[edit] What is RoidRipper?
RoidRipper is a free and open source mining bot for the game EVE Online. It's based on an early version of a bot called Simple Miner, written in [Autohotkey]. The project was started by Mooseman99 from [Public Demands] and is maintained by the site's community. Being written in Autohotkey it's very easy to edit and customize, and is perfect to base any bot off since RoidRipper is said to be the most efficient mining bot available.
As Autohotkey is incapable of injecting commands into the EVE client the bot instead monitors the game itself using several methods: [single pixel colours], [pixel colour searches] and [image searches]. Searching the screen itself has it's good and bad results. As the EVE window must always be visible only one instance of EVE and RoidRipper can be running. this can be worked around by using a [virtual machine]; an operating system within the working operating system. This allows EVE to be minimized and therefore allow other RoidRipper instances to run. The alternate method to controlling EVE is to inject commands into the game. This does allow the EVE window to be minimized but poses the risk of detection, since it's very easy to sense.
RoidRipper is feature packed. Here's a few of them:
- Free and open source
- Supports all ships and configurations including crystals
- Ability to select what to mine
- Full rat protection manages shields, armour and fight drones, and if RoidRipper still can't handle the rats it will warp the ship to safety
- Altering of delays and scheduled logoffs to help stop suspicion from other players
- Traveling function allows RoidRipper to jump to different systems
- Setup is completely autonomous
- Ability to backup normal play settings and restore them when finished botting
- Supports all Windows versions
- Supports all screen resolutions (from 1024x786 up)
- Supports most Windows themes (although none reported not to work), however windows classic theme is recommended.
